VoiceLabs vs ElevenLabs

Read this first: VoiceLabs is pre-launch. The public site, account sign-up, the VoiceLabs Pro plan with billing, and our MCP server for AI agents are live today; the voice studio itself — the engines and voice cloning — is in development and planned at launch. ElevenLabs is a shipped, generally available product and the leader in this category. If you need to generate audio this afternoon, that difference matters more than any row in the table below.

ElevenLabs pricing and product breadth below were read from elevenlabs.io/pricing as of 2026-07-30; their MCP details from their official MCP repository on the same date. Their plans change; check their site for the current list. VoiceLabs prices come straight from our own plan configuration.

VoiceLabs compared with ElevenLabs across status, pricing, usage metering, hosting, open-source foundation, AI agent access, and product breadth.

Open-source foundationBuilt on the open-source VoiceBox project (MIT), and that attribution is permanent. The hosted service around it is commercial.Their official MCP server is published on GitHub. We have not verified their model licensing, so we make no claim about it here.
AI agent access (MCP)A remote MCP server, live now: streamable HTTP, OAuth 2.1 with a consent screen, five tools, revocable per agent. Nothing to install and no API key to paste. An official MCP server exists, run locally (uvx elevenlabs-mcp) with your ElevenLabs API key in the client config.
Product breadthFocused: text-to-speech and voice cloning at launch. Nothing else.Much broader — text-to-speech, speech-to-text, sound effects, voice design, music, dubbing, image and video, plus conversational agents and a separate API product.

Who should pick ElevenLabs

Most people, today. ElevenLabs is the category leader, it works right now, and it does far more than VoiceLabs plans to: dubbing, music, sound effects, speech-to-text, conversational agents, and a mature API with a real free tier to try it on. If you need breadth, need a proven vendor, need seats for a team, or need to ship this week, use ElevenLabs — that is the honest recommendation, and we would rather say it than win a click we cannot yet deserve.

Who might prefer VoiceLabs

People who want one flat $8-a-month bill instead of a credit budget to reason about, who only need text-to-speech and voice cloning and do not want to pay for eight other products, who like that the foundation is open source (MIT VoiceBox), or who want their AI agent to reach a voice studio over a hosted MCP server with an OAuth consent screen rather than a pasted API key. If that is you, the trial is the cheapest way to find out — and the launch status above is the thing to weigh against it.

7-day free trial, card upfront, cancel anytime before it ends.
