What is an ElevenLabs credit worth?
A credit balance is not a quantity anyone can picture. Put yours in below — or paste the script you actually want spoken — and this works out roughly how much audio it is, which ElevenLabs plan covers it, and what the same volume looks like on VoiceLabs Pro.
On their V2 Multilingual models one credit is about one character, so the same box works for either number.

10,000 characters ÷ 1,000 characters per minute. That divisor is an approximation, and the real figure moves with speaking rate, punctuation and language.

Their cheapest plan with at least 10,000 credits a month is Free (10,000 credits). Read from their pricing page on 2026-09-02.
ON VOICELABS

VoiceLabs Pro includes 120 minutes of generated audio a month as fair use, for $8 a month — so 10 minutes is 8% of one month’s allowance. There is no per-character fee and no overage bill; when the allowance is used up, it refills next month.

Where the conversion comes from
About 1,000 characters of text becomes about one minute of speech. That is not our estimate — it is read off ElevenLabs’ own pricing page, which prices its free plan at 10,000 credits a month and, in the compare-plans table on the same page, lists about 10 minutes included for that plan. At one credit per character on their Multilingual v2 models, that is exactly 1,000 characters a minute. Fish Audio’s page corroborates it independently, pairing 8,000 monthly credits with “up to 7 minutes generation”. Both read 2026-09-02.
What it cannot tell you
It is an estimate, and a rough one. Speaking rate, punctuation, pauses and language all move the real duration — the same 1,000 characters read as unhurried narration runs noticeably longer than the same text as clipped dialogue, and a Chinese or Japanese script packs far more speech into the same character count than an English one does. Treat the answer as an order of magnitude for choosing a plan, not as a quote.
It also stops at ElevenLabs’ Starter tier. Their Creator, Pro, Scale and Business plans exist and their prices are on the comparison page, but the credit allowance attached to each was not part of the figures we verified, so this calculator refuses to guess one.
