Turn text into speech without leaving Slack
Type /voicelabs followed by some text and VoiceLabs posts it back as audio in the channel, in your own voices. Good for voice notes, announcements and anything your team would rather hear than read.
How it works
STEP 1
Add VoiceLabs to your workspace
Choose Add to Slack and approve the three permissions listed below. A workspace admin may need to approve the install.
STEP 2
Connect your VoiceLabs account
Sign in to VoiceLabs, open the Slack page and choose Get a connect code. Then run /voicelabs connect with that code in Slack. The code works once and expires after ten minutes, and it links the Slack user who typed it to your account, so your voices and your plan carry over.
STEP 3
Type a command
Run /voicelabs Hello team in a channel you invited VoiceLabs to. The audio is posted there a few seconds later.
Commands
/voicelabs connect CODE- Connect your VoiceLabs account, using a code from VoiceLabs.
/voicelabs <text>- Speak the text in your first voice.
/voicelabs voice:Name <text>- Speak it in the voice called Name.
/voicelabs voices- List your voices. Only you see the answer.
/voicelabs disconnect- Disconnect your VoiceLabs account from Slack.
/voicelabs help- Show the command list.
Text can be up to 10,000 characters. Speech counts against your VoiceLabs plan, exactly like speech made in the studio; see pricing.
What VoiceLabs can do in your workspace
Three permissions, and nothing else. VoiceLabs never reads your channels, messages, files or member list: it only acts when someone runs the command.
commands- Adds the /voicelabs command. This is the only way VoiceLabs is used.
chat:write- Posts one short line with the audio, naming who asked for it and quoting the start of the text.
files:write- Uploads the generated audio file to the channel.
Your data
VoiceLabs keeps your workspace's id and name, an encrypted copy of the bot token Slack issues, and the link between your Slack user and your VoiceLabs account. The text you send is turned into audio on our servers and appears in your VoiceLabs history like any other generation. Removing the app from Slack deletes the stored token and every link for the workspace, and /voicelabs disconnect removes your own link. Read the privacy policy and the terms, or contact support.
