German text-to-speech
German is served by four engines: both Qwen3-TTS variants, Chatterbox Multilingual and TADA's multilingual build. It is the largest European language in the set that Kokoro does not cover at all.
That absence is the practical fact to plan around: Kokoro is the lightweight, cheap-to-run engine, and for German it is simply not an option — the work goes to Qwen3-TTS or Chatterbox. Neither of Qwen3-TTS CustomVoice's preset speakers is natively German, so a German voice there means cloning one. German's long compound nouns are a pronunciation stress test rather than a token-budget one: the script is Latin, so chunking behaves as it does for English, but it is worth auditioning more than one engine on your actual vocabulary before committing.

One caveat on TADA: it ships in two sizes and only the larger, multilingual build speaks German. Its smaller and faster model is English-only, so a German job has to be on the right one.

Kokoro does not speak German, so its preset catalogue is not available here. Qwen3-TTS CustomVoice ships no natively German preset speaker, so a preset used here is a voice speaking outside its own language.

Long German scripts
German is written in Latin script, so long scripts are split and stitched exactly the way English ones are, with no script-density adjustment needed. What varies over a long piece is prosody rather than mechanics — it is worth auditioning two engines on a real paragraph rather than on one line.
